Technical Artist

Responsibilities

  • Support Art Team in the use of the 3D art pipeline and tools
  • Provide hands-on support to Art Team in regard to asset performance and validation
  • Review creative process and identify opportunities for tool improvements
  • Develop 3D art pipeline tools and extensions with an eye towards usability and efficiency
  • Solve challenging technical issues in the 3D asset pipeline

Relevant Experience

  • Art credits on a current generation title using Unreal Engine 4 or comparable game engine
  • 2−3 years of experience as a Game Artist, SFX Artist, or Technical Artist

Desired Skills

  • Knowledge of PBR tools, materials and pipelines
  • Expert level knowledge of art tool suite (Autodesk Maya, 3DS Max, Substance Painter, etc.)
  • Experience in a full digital art content creation pipeline (high and low-poly modelling, unwrapping, baking, texturing, level art)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good artistic skills (proportion, color, composition)
  • Experience with PBR material development in a game engine (UE4 Preferred)

Would be a plus

  • Experienced developing custom tools for Digital Content Creation applications (Maya, Max, etc.)
  • Knowledge of high level coding language. (Python, MaxScript, Perl, C#, etc.)
  • Understanding of performance tuning on current generation consoles (PS4, Xbox1)
